LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER (2023)

My name is is Ron Harper. I started the Peter Harris Outreach Center in 2022 to help others with their re-entry back into society after the experience of incarceration.
​
My passion for assisting justice-impacted individuals is connected to my own personal story. I was 18 years old—still a freshman in college—when I was convicted of my first felony. This first conviction completely changed the course of my life and, from then on, I was in and out of prison on a range of charges. My most recent conviction for a non-violent drug charge yielded a 144-month sentence in state prison.

While I was away, I saw first-hand the need for programmatic interventions that were more responsive to the challenges that incarcerated individuals face as they seek to reintegrate into society.

The Peter Harris Outreach Center was my idea for creating meaningful support for returning citizens, shaped by people who have the lived experience of reentering civic life after lengthy incarceration. Thank you for your interest in joining us on this journey to rebuild and repair communities, one individual at a time.
